When I was starting to work on my idea and then building my company, I didn’t expect to meet something like we are facing right now. Not only do we still manage and deal with covid and its different variations, but the Russian invasion of Ukraine happened as well. Putin’s treatment of other countries and the threat of using nuclear weapons against anyone that would help is making it worse. As many did, I started to be worried about my life, my family, friends, and the future of Europe. With Putin’s vision of creating the Soviet Union once again, and/or even threatening the entire world.
We are also experiencing the best leadership in recent history, the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. Who represents freedom, courage, and everything about leadership is all about. He is in the front lines, making great moves, protecting his country and civilians, giving them hope for tomorrow and for a better future. With their brilliant mindsets and heroic actions, the Ukrainian people are defending not only their country but also their freedom of choice and the better future of all Europe.
After the first scary moment using nuclear weapons passes away or being aware that it may happen, many people in the EU and leaders of the countries are waking up, to be stronger than ever and taking steps (some of the steps are slow), but as we go with this good direction, there is hope and a better future above.
In moments like these, the best idea is to talk and walk through those emotions, as I am doing it with my family, friends, and coworkers. Also, we can think about what is best and most precious in life. To me, after my grandma’s death, it was a mission of protecting and improving humans’ lives through the power of emerging technology in healthcare. As always, we need to focus on solving the issues that we are facing, and also focus on impacting people, to make their lives better. As individuals we can make a difference, create pressure on our politicians to make them navigate and solve the Russian invasion and future threats from authoritarian countries as soon as possible. To help as we can, as many people in Poland are doing right now, could be by giving a shelter to refugees and making donations. And as a humanity we need to stand together for peace, freedom, human rights protection and make every aspect of our lives better – from education, cyber protection to healthcare. On a daily basis, we as the AI Safety Holding team are standing with Ukraine and focus on the healthcare system.
