So what does patient-centric care really look like, or better what can it be in the future. As our CEO’s statement reads, “Our purpose is to revolutionize healthcare, to be like a trusted family friend who takes care of you and your loved ones, saving and improving your life, and having an impact for everyone on the planet.” To all of us at AI Safety Holdings, this is our mission, our singular goal! Many people have lost faith in the healthcare system for a variety of reasons:
- Lack of access to affordable care
- Difficulty determining where to seek care
- Providers focused on diagnosis rather than the patients “problems”
- Providers not support involvement of family and friends
- Lack of options for healthcare (i.e. Telemedicine)
- Not being provided education of treatment options
A patent-centric approach puts the patient in the drivers seat in determining their needs and assisting them through the entire journey of healthcare assistance. This begins with the first contact a patient has with the medical system, many times with getting an appointment to discuss their medical condition. With new systems in place not only is it easier for a patient to find an appointment that fits their schedule, they can begin their journey with an online visit with a medical provider. With technology available now, a patient can even be assisted on finding a provider that is affordable and covered by the health insurance plan they have in place.
The next critical issue is the patient’s data which can now be made available in a number of applications or web-based portals, for instance MyChart. These applications make it easier for a patent to not only interact with their healthcare provider, but also quickly and easily share that information with specialists, or even family members if they want to.
There is a lot of work to do to really make the healthcare system like a trusted family friend, but there are a number of companies out there dedicated to helping make our CEO’s vision come true.
